The name of the firm is taken from Nobska Lighthouse in Woods Hole, MA, Ms. Moore’s hometown. Her father, a commercial fisherman and skipper of the Marine Biological Laboratory’s specimen boat was often guided by Nobska Light as he navigated his boat and crew home through the fog, stormy weather, and sometimes treacherous waters between Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and Cape Cod.

Nobska Light, built in 1876, and standing high atop a bluff, shines a powerful beacon carrying a “symbolic message of eternal hope, vigilance, endurance, inspiration, and guidance”.
